Mowbray #1 - The Lagertha Staff is the first of a series of themed staff creations by Paul Mowbray. Lathertha, the fearless Viking shield maiden, crowns this finely crafted staff masterpiece. Inspired by Katheryn Winnick of the TV series Vikings.
Carved in Utile. Paul chose this timber due to the fact that the Vikiings formed extensive trade links with many traders including those in Asia and Africa. This piece was commissioned by a fan of the TV epic 'Vikings' who noticed the quality of the sets, costumes and weaponry in the making of this series. There is a scene where Ragnar Lothbrok can be seen holding a staff similar to what we see here. Although this one is far better - even if we say so ourselves.
The legend of Lagertha tells that she was a Viking ruler and shield-maiden from Norway (or that region at the time) and the wife of the famous Viking warrior Ragnar Lothbrok. Her tale was recorded by the chronicler Saxo in the 12th century. Katheryn Winnick stars as Lagertha in the superb TV series Vikings and this staff would not have been made were it not for her awesome performance in that role.
